Due to the nature of timber, there are a number of problems associated with the installation of hardwood flooring over under floor heating systems.
Without going into great technical detail, the use of 'solid Oak planks' is not practical. However there are three specific systems which are in our opinion suitable, all of which we have used successfully over a number of years on both electrical and water based systems, on screed and timber bases.
1. 'Nordik' 14mm x 125/190mm pre-finished engineered plank. Standard 3 ply engineered flooring with 3.4mm wear layer, either laid as a floating floor or bonded to the sub-floor.
2. 'Muligarrant' 20/26mm x random width (150 - 265mm) unfinished (sanded and filled) Oak plank, comprising 8mm Oak overlay fully bonded to 18mm wbp ply, to be laid floating or fully bonded. The various ranges of 'aged and distressed' flooring can all be produced in this fashion, to produce a suitably stable board.
3. Traditional 10 mm squared edged parquet overlay, face pinned and fully bonded to chipboard plywood substrate which is either floating or fully bonded.
Each of the above can be utilised and are suited to particular applications, detailing, finishes and of course budgets. Full specifications and indicative samples are available on request.
